Digital Designs EVO X Demo Car!

Not everyone is lucky enough to have owned an Mitsubishi EVO let alone two of them, Ashley ‘MAD BASS’ Burrell has however been this lucky and he even owned them both at the same time for a while there too!

Even though the Mitsubishi EVO IX was Ashley’s favourite car to drive, he said the Mitsubishi EVO X was favourite for Sound Quality out of the EVO’s!

In 2007 the Mitsubishi EVO X became available to the public and Ashley was lucky enough to get his grubby little hands on the first one available to the NZ public making it the second EVO X on NZ roads as the first one had been scoped up by the head of Mitsubishi NZ.

The model Ashley got was the GSR 5 speed manual and had a power rating of 295 PS (217 kW; 291 hp) at 6500 rpm and 366 N·m (270 lb·ft) at 3500 rpm. Even though this model was down on power compared Ashley’s FQ-340 by almost 50hp the EVO X is not a slow car by far!

This time round the EVO X was filled to the brim with Digital Designs audio equipment, including 1 DD-3512-D2 Sub-Woofer, 1 set of DD-AW6.5 Components, 1 set of DD-C6.5 Components, 2 DD-A1 2-Channel Amplifiers and 2 DD-M1a Mono-Block Amplifers!

I personally never got to hear this set-up myself but used to see the car around a lot and used to think “What would that sound like inside the car?” . Lucky for me I’ve had a lot of time to harass Ashley and ask a million and one questions about this car.

From what I have been told time and again these are the best sounding car audio components Ashley has own in a long time! The DD-3512-D2 speaks for itself in my opinion, if you have ever had the chance to owned or hear the DD-3500 Series Subs you will understand how clear and beautifully sounding they are.

Ashley was saying it was a sad day when he decided to sell the Evo X and move onto a BMW, which is totally understandable even though BMW’s are amazing cars in there own right but comparing a BMW to an EVO is like apples and oranges, both very tasty in there own ways yet so different!

I personally loved the way this EVO X looked so got a friend to see if he could paint up an EVO X in Forza Motorsport 4 and I think he did an amazing job of it too!

Hopefully I can save enough money so I can do a similar DD-EVO-X build one day but this time round it would have DD-AW6.5 Components all round…
