Digital Designs CM600 Mono-Block Product Review

The Digital Designs CM600 is Digital Designs‘ entry level Mono-Block Amplifier and I use the term “entry level” loosely, 350w RMS @ 4ohm & 600w RMS @ 2ohm may be entry level for Digital Designs but for some other (that I will not name due to respect) car audio brands 600w RMS is a monstrous amount of power for their factory made subwoofers.

As usual with the Digital Designs amplifiers the CM600 has nice and simple design with the casing which is a good thing in my opinion, the nice and sleek black anodised aluminium casing makes for a good heat-sink as well as looking stealth enough for the most subtle of installs.

Here at ABTEC we have a CM600 on a comparator board (Sound-Board) with a SS4a and SS1b mounted above it and because of this beautifully simple casing design all three of them look like they all belong. This to me is important as when I have an install done I like it to look as clean as possible and allowing the different series amplifiers to have a similar look/design allows people to make their installs as clean as possible.

With 350w RMS @ 4ohms & 600w RMS @ 2ohms the CM600 is the perfect Mono-Block to power a Digital Designs DD-LE-MINI08 or even two of them! At the moment on the comparator board we have a CM600 powering 4 x DD-SW6.5’s, DD-512-D4, DD-510-D4, JBL GTO1214DInfinity Kappa 122.7 & a Infinity REF1260W via a switch board which is pushing at least one of these for a minimum of twelve hours a day without any issues!

If you are after an amp to provide clean power to an “entry level” DD subwoofer (or even another brand) the Digital Designs CM600 can’t be beat in my opinion for price you pay for it! Once my new family car has arrived I will most likely be getting a CM600 myself to power two DD-LE-MINI08’s just so I can have a touch of bass for those family outings!
